Below are our House Rules which must be adhered to at all times or risk forfeiting your reservation and your deposit.

We have two basic rules:

  1. Leave the property as it was when you arrived.

  2. Be respectful to our neighbors and community.

Other than these 2 important rules, please make yourself at home and enjoy your stay!

F.A.Q.’s

Deliveries / Ubers all must enter at Cook street Entrance with gate code 01156

Be a Good Neighbor.
Quiet hours
are strictly enforced from 9PM on weekdays and 10PM on the weekends to 8AM. Even normal level conversation must be moved inside your home during this time. At all times, any amplified sound that can be heard 50 feet away from the property is prohibited. Please be aware that in order to ensure the neighbors are not disrupted, this home is monitored by noise control systems at all times. Noise carries and is amplified from the outdoor areas, so please be mindful of your neighbors at all times.

ZERO tolerance for parties.
Not only is this a very quiet neighborhood at night, but you’re in very close proximity to the neighbors on all sides. Therefor, noise carries easily. This house has an 8 person reservation limit and all individuals must be registered as a guest. If you have not registered all persons, no worries, simply email: hello@caputie.com

Pet Policy.
One dog, no cats or other pets, is always welcome on this property, but you must let us know at the time of your booking. If you did not, please do so now so we can asses the appropriate pet cleaning fee ($100-$150 per pet). We have many guests who may be allergic to dogs which is why the additional cleaning fee is required.

A few helpful points:

  • WiFi Network: CaputieResidences / and Password: (provided at checkin)

  • Cook Street Gate Code: (provided at checkin)

  • Private Casita access is from the front patio (door code provided at checkin)

  • All TV’s are Smart TV’s and have an the standard apps such as Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Disney+, Amazon Prime, Freevee and more. Please use your own logins.

  • Large trash and recycling bins are outside near the garage and need to be pulled out to the street every Monday evening (pick-up is early Tuesday morning)

  • House cleaners (Antonia + 2 sisters) arrive every other Wednesday, between noon - 2. The exact time will be confirmed the night before. Please know that your cleaning fee goes directly to these ladies and we do not take any profit. You are encouraged to leave them an additional tip, they work hard to take care of you!

  • Landscapers are at the property every Tuesday from 10 - 11AM. They have the gate code, but please try to make sure the side gate is unlocked to give them access to the backyard, code 0210. With all the wind in the desert, they help to keep the property clean for you!

  • Our Pool Cleaner, Isreal, cleans the pool twice a week. He is typically at the property every Tuesday and Friday from 2 - 6 AM.

Pool Heater.
California energy, gas and electric, costs have increased significantly. It costs, on average, about $30 per day to heat the pool October - May, and nothing to heat July - September. It is important to not heat the pool higher than 85 degrees and the spa not over 101 degree. The house’s average monthly gas bill is $50/month when the pool and spa heater is not used. If you incur additional heating utility costs beyond an average of $50/ a day, you will be charged difference, there is no markup. If you want the pool and spa heated during your stay, you must provide written request and pay the heating fee for your entire stay. The pool heater will be turned on prior to your arrival if you have pre-paid for the pool to be heated. If you have any questions or are concerned about additional fees, email us at hello@caputie.com.

Opening the Large La Cantina Door in the Family Room.
IMPORTANT
: The desert brings lots of wind and sand. If the door DOES NOT easily slide, sand has blown into the sliding mechanisms and it SHOULD NOT BE USED as you could damage the door!

  1. Open the door lock (to the right until it stops) and turn the handle right.

  2. The first panel of the door should open out, slowly until it reaches the magnetic lock on the next door panel.

  3. Twist both rectangular handles to the right, 45 degrees until you hear the “click”. The door should release from track. Once it does, twist the handle back into position.

  4. Using the two open handles, slowly push the door outward. It should glide nice and easy, no force needed. If it doesn’t move, then revisit step 3 to make sure you released the locks.

  5. Using the first 2 panels magnetically locked together, push the wall back, acordian style.

  6. To lock, slowly pull the 2 panels magnetically locked together back to closing position. When almost straight, turn the 2 rectangular handles to the right, 45 degree to open them. Using the 2 open handles above those, pull the door shut and turn the hand back 45 degrees to lock the door.

  7. To lock the main door panel, lift the handle up (as if to turn left) and then turn the lock left until it stops.

Garage Doors.
The main garage door sensor is very sensitive and dust blowing can stop it, even evening sunlight can block the lasers. Be sure to watch the garage open completely before entering or exiting. Always make sure the garage door shuts completely.

Popcorn Machine.
Get ready for your favorite popcorn ever! The movie theater popcorn maker does just that, it makes delicious movie theater quality popcorn. Our gift to you is one free popcorn making kit, located inside the maker’s cabinet. Follow instructions in the manual to make the popcorn, also located insider the cabinet. PLEASE NOTE: that if you decide to use this machine, it is your responsibility to either clean it (follow instructions in the manual and never submerge in water or use cleaning chemicals, just paper towels) or leave $20’s for the house cleaners and they will clean it for you. It sounds hard to clean, but it’s easier than you’d think and the popcorn is delicious!

Keys.
2 sets of House keys are located in the Casita desk drawer. Please return the keys here when leaving as the Casita door locks automatically when shut. The Casita door does function on batteries. In the unfortunate situation the door stops working, there is a lock box on the courtyard umbrella with an emergency set of keys. If this happens, please contact us to get the lockbox code.

Heated Bathroom Floors and Towel Rack.
The primary en suite bathroom has heated floors and heated towel rack. To use the heated floors, the temperature setting is next to the glass shower wall. The covers on the sides of the screen open by using your finger at the bottom to open. Slide the button to the left to On. The instruction manual is in the medicine cabinet if you would like to set it to program the times of the day it operates. Please be sure not to leave it on all day, every day and make sure if you do use it to turn it off (i.e. standby) before you leave. The towel rack can be turned on using the button on the top left. Be sure to turn this off after each use.

Kitchen Faucet.
The Kitchen faucet has a hand sensor and thus requires batteries to operate. The handsfree sensor is on the bottom left of the handle feature. When you swipe your hand to turn on water, the handle no longer has any on / off power and you will need to swipe your hand again to turn it off. If you use the handle, the handsfree sensor is then disabled. In the unlikely case the faucet stops working, it will be due to the batteries needing replacement. Under the sink, on the left side of the cabinet, you will see the holder for the batteries. Extra batteries can found in the drawer under the Family room TV.

Utility Drawers.
Both drawers under the TV in the Family room have items such as batteries, pens, paper, etc. for you to use. Please let us know if you use the last of something so we can replace them for the next guests.

Utilities.
Utilities in Palm Desert are very expensive. Please use common sense and don’t waste energy. Our brand new laundry units are high efficiency, please use cold water. Energy Upgrade California® encourages all Californians to initiate energy savings during the peak hours of 4 to 9PM,* such as by:

  • Turning off all but essential lighting

  • Using less hot water by operating washing machines and dishwashers during off-peak hours or on cold water

  • Pre-cooling your home outside of peak demand hours

  • Setting the thermostat for your air conditioner at a higher temperature when it is running (Please do not cool the house below 76 F June - September or risk additional utility fees).

  • Installing timers on electricity-consuming appliances such as electric water heaters, indoor and outdoor lighting, water recirculation pumps, and pool and spa pumps

  • Using timers to run appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines and ovens at non-peak times
You can learn more about energy efficiencies in California by clicking here.

Outdoor Kitchen.
Our outdoor kitchen has a brand new sink and faucet, 2 burner and granite stone top! It also has a natural gas BBQ and skillet. Please be responsible during use. The mini-fridge is kept unplugged. If you use it, please be sure to unplug it again before you leave.

Art Pieces.
We often get asked about the art. All of the art is a reproduction on canvas of a famous piece or an original available for purchase here: www.ArtByPerrine.com.
